To use Mendeley Cite you'll need a free Mendeley account, available from You can also set up an account through the add-in. Select and insert individual or multiple references at once. Thus, I suppose you are unable to use Mendeley to cite interviews. Search for references in your Mendeley library and insert them easily into the document you're working on Unfortunately, ‘Interview’ is not included in the types of references for Mendeley yet.

If you must edit your Bibliography or in-text citations in your document rather than in Mendeley, do this at the very end of your writing process.Mendeley Cite speeds up the process of referencing when writing, giving researchers the tools to quickly and easily insert references from their Mendeley library directly into their Microsoft Word document. If you hand wrote some of your in-text citations, and used the plug-in for others, your final bibliography will only autogenerate a works cited list from anything used via the citation plug-in and leave out hand-written references. All edits should be done in the Mendeley Desktop or Web application (use the fields to correct mistakes or errors). You cannot edit these in your document and have the changes reflected in your Mendeley library When you click on an in-text citation or reference in your bibliography it will be grey and coded. At this point, it is important to remember that any references or bibliographies generated via the citation plugin tool are coded to your Mendeley Library. A dialogue box will open with a search bar. The citation plugin is really helpful when you start writing in Word.
